Program Name: Law Office Study Program (LOSP)


Requirements:


  • Study law for four years under the supervision of a qualified attorney or judge.


  • The supervising attorney must have at least five years of active legal experience.


  • Complete 18 hours per week of study for a minimum of 48 weeks per year.


  • Take monthly exams and submit progress reports to the California State Bar.


Additional Notes:


Apprentices must pass the First-Year Law Students' Examination (Baby Bar) after the first year to continue in the program.


The Baby Bar has a low pass rate, making it a significant hurdle.


VERMONT

Vermont (Bar Prep) - $74.00

Requirement: Supervision by an attorney or judge with at least three years of experience is required.


Role of Supervisor:

  • Provide structured legal education equivalent to law school.


  • Mentor you in both theory and practical skills.
  • 
  • Submit bi-annual progress reports to the Vermont Board of Bar Examiners.


VIRGINIA

Virginia (Bar Prep) - $108.25

Program Name: Law Reader Program


Requirements:

  • Complete a three-year program under a supervising attorney or judge.

  • The supervising attorney must have at least 10 years of experience.

  • Devote at least 25 hours per week to legal study.

  • Follow a strict curriculum outlined by the Virginia Board of Bar Examiners, covering topics like civil procedure, contracts, criminal law, etc.


  • Submit monthly progress reports.


Additional Notes:

Virginia's program is known for its strict  Requirements and rigorous oversight.


No Baby Bar exam is required, but the final bar exam remains challenging


STATE OF WASHINGTON

State of Washington (Bar Prep) - $74.00

Program Name: Law Clerk Program


Requirements:


  • Complete a four-year apprenticeship under the supervision of an attorney or judge.

  • The supervising attorney must have at least 10 years of experience.

  • Work 32 hours per week in a law office while also completing law courses.

  • Submit quarterly progress reports, including work logs and evaluations of study.
